Frequently Asked Questions
What are the benefits of having speech therapy at home?
A familiar environment allows your child to feel comfortable and eliminates the challenge of transitioning from the car to the waiting area to the clinic room.
Therapy at home offers more opportunities for parents and other caregivers to be involved and to feel confident using strategies outside of the therapy session.
During an in-home therapy session, language development is easily incorporated into daily activities and routines, making it easier for caregivers to practice strategies each day.
What does play-based speech therapy look like?
Therapy sessions will look different depending on the needs and preferences of the child. Learning through play is meaningful and motivating, so in each session, Kathy will implement different therapy strategies during child-led play and will coach caregivers on how to do the same. We might play pretend, jump on the trampoline, blow hundreds of bubbles, or read a book over and over again, all while focusing on different aspects of communication.
Do you accept insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider. I accept self-pay via cash or credit card. Call (513) 202-4010 to discuss rates.
What disabilities or communication disorders do you treat?
I primarily work with children with autism, especially those who are not yet speaking, and those who have recently been diagnosed. I also work with toddlers and preschoolers with delayed speech/language development who don’t have a specific diagnosis, as well as children with speech sound disorders that make their speech harder to understand.
What areas do you serve?
Based centrally in Springfield Township, I travel throughout Cincinnati/Hamilton County to see children in their homes.
